Fish seasons: how to read the peak-season heatmap
Every fishing spot in the tool has a color chart covering all 12 months for each fish species. The idea is simple, but reading it correctly makes a real difference to your day's result.
What the colors mean
- Dark (peak): the month a species is at its highest feeding or spawning activity — your best shot at that fish.
- Medium (good): present and catchable, just not at its best.
- Empty/very light (off-season): either migrated away or very inactive that month — time to target something else.
Why does the season change at all?
Three main reasons: water temperature (each species has a comfortable range), spawning (many species school densely during their spawning season), and migration (some, like tuna, pass through only during specific windows and are absent the rest of the year).
How to actually use it
- Open "Fish & seasons" for your spot and find the current month (the highlighted column).
- Mentally rank the species at "peak" this month — those are today's priority.
- If one species keeps disappointing you, check the chart — its season might simply not have arrived yet.
- Plan next month early: if a species is about to enter its peak, get the right bait and rig ready ahead of time.
Seasons in the chart are approximate, based on general regional patterns — they can shift year to year with water temperature and climate conditions.
